About Us

Firestone High School is one of nine High Schools in the Akron Public Schools District. We are a Project Lead the Way certified school, and all students in 7316 teams are PLTW scholars. 7316 Teams are students who devote their time after school to the program's Engineering and Robotics Club, run by our teacher, Mr. Dan Spak.
Since 2012, our club's first year in VEX Robotics, we have grown in numbers and skills, starting out as a team that didn't even make it to alliance selections, to a team that made it to Worlds Competition in Anaheim. Our club is very diverse, our members being from all grades; freshmen to seniors, ages 13 to 18, some having no experience in robotics and others seasoned vets. We "officially" meet twice a week -not including the copious amount of time during the school day that we all sneak down to the engineering room!
