Highlander Open/Silver Team

A message to past members: If you have no idea who I am then this announcment probably shouldn't concern you. Afterall,
you are past members.
As we lost yet another season clean (BYE week on UGC) it has come to my attention that we're not doing great and aren't improving our game.

People were leaving the roster and as a result, we were losing more and more matches untill we lost literally every official and scrim we had played. This of course just made everyone less eager and willing to play, thus continuing the vicious cycle.

In hopes of continuing on, I asked people if they wanted to play HL in a new team or maybe play 6s, and unfortunately not enough people unanimously agreed to either one of those (some could only UGC, some didn't want to play anything, some were like maybe, etc.) so there aren't enough players for either. This gives me no choice to close this team down due to lack of interest.

As a leader I think that I have failed in my job in keeping the team together and bringing us victory as I made some objectively bad decisions throught. "I tried so hard, and got so far... In the end it doesn't even matter"
I'm sorry that I have failed you, the players and I'm sorry to the players who think that playing in this team was a waste of their time.


I'd like to thank everyone who participated for playing and clinging on. This is farewell and good luck to everyone.

My thoughts on why we failed (you really don't have to read this):
First off, me being appointed as a leader, a role I had no idea about doing, nor really wanted to. After I accepted the fact that noone else want's to do it, and fearing the team might disband, I grudgingly accepted the role.
Second, some players just lacked interested to begin with and I didn't want to kick them off because finding people is hard enough already, let alone in a team that's Open, but almost Mid (which requires people better than Open, but not good enough for Mid, narrowing the selection down even further.
A lack of commitment was apparent too, with some players exclusively coming to play matches and nothing else. It was like a chore to them, and not something they enjoyed doing.

Third, not many players actively engaged in conversations with eachother when we lost a match, to discuss what went wrong. No critical thinking was done between a majority of the team. It always came down to me to ask everyone individually. Some did discuss things between eachother (zap and couper), (not aware of anyone else doing so) but never did we have the full team just talk it out and try to solve a problem. As much as I tried to engage and promote this, it didn't really work.
Rarely did we all notice an apparent problem, talked through it and attempted a solution.

Fourth, Players leaving the roster. I understand that if you're losing interest and want to leave, that's fine, but I'm adressing those who jumped ship solely becuase we were losing. Leaving is obviously easier than attempting to make things work. If things aren't working it atleast warrants a try to fix them, right?

Fifth, my leading. The thing I noticed that I did wrong was pester everyone about scrim days, instead of asking once for a specific day when they can always play on, and then sticking to playing on that day when everyone is available. Not sure about anything else because noone told me anything.

Sixth, no maincaller. 'nough said.
