Early Middle Ages Roleplay

In the longest span of wars Italians have ever fought, the victory over the Sawdanid Emirate has proven to be one of the shortest and least amount of casualties on the Italians side in all known efforts and certainly a proud step in the Kingdom of Italys future overall.

Within a year totals time of the war King Louis II Karling of Italy, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire has led his large army into Bari, the capital of the former Sawdanid Empirate and achieved victory. Lower than five hundred men were lost in the struggle to take all five counties of the Emirates control, marking it among the best of all favourable results that could've been mustered in the conflict by far.

Upon landing on the shores of Bari and the Italian fleets beginning of blockading, the Italian army made quick work of preparing defenses as the army embarked upon the shores fully and seige engines were transported in the ready. Marking for true professionalism the troops made quick work to get into position and due to the sheer numbers and professionality of the Italian forces, the enemy refused to face the Italian forces and decided to hole up in the capitals city walls for safety.

A few months passed of beseiging the city as King Louis gave a rousing speech to his men, the fight to take down the last Muslim holding in Italy, the last fight to truly unite Italy proper under Italian rule. Meanwhile the seige engines were prepared and catapults alongside of ballista fired off onto the walls of the enemy capital.

Within a few will aimed blasts and overall barrage of sheer power, not only did massive casualties ensure on the walls themselves, the walls collapsed under the weight of the barrage, likely hitting a weak center into the walls themselves. Barely into dawn of the next day the white flag was spotted at the walls and surrender negiotations were underway, the Sultan, Emir Sawdan captured by his own men, the capital fallen.

Terms were agreed upon and within a month the rest of the counties fell to mere words as they all surrendered and joined the banner of King Louis II Karling of Italy. The terms were simple in the end, the people there would be allowed to enjoy their religious faiths, while proper christains would be able to enjoy their own in the counties in equal measure, neither to conflict, while the rulers of the counties would keep their positions as bannerman to Louis, enjoying new titles and a new found Duke of Bari of their own choosing.

With the five counties and provinces under the Kingdom of Italy in a surprisingly short war, King Louis has sailed home and called an offical end to the war...who knows in the end just where his sights may lay from here on, but one thing is for certain, the Kingdom of Italy has made one further step to becoming a true power and light in the world.
