Civ 5 Freeze-ups?

Tonight, my Civ 5 has locked up several times. I don't know if this is a Civ problem or a Steam problem. Anyone else having these issues?

btw, sorry for not being as attentive to this group of late. I've been up to my eyeballs with real world stuff of late. However, I just got Gods & Kings. I've got about 5 hours of game play so far and so far I like it. You?

I've created a couple of maps for Civilization V using the worldbuilder, however when playing the game it doesn't put the players were I wanted them. does anyone have the solution for the problem?
