BMC was founded in 1964 in Izmir. In the first years, it produced Austin and Morris branded commercial vehicles. Since 1966, it has started to produce trucks, pickup trucks, tractors and engines. BMC's domestic capital ratio, which was 74% at the beginning, became the only commercial vehicle manufacturer in Turkey with 100% domestic capital in 1989.
