ABOUT BATSQUAD

Welcome to BATSQUAD!

BAT was original formed in November 2004 by Baldie and Logic. The squad was called Tactical Response Unit and hosted a teamspeak server of Logics’ machine and a JO server hosted of a remote access machine.
TL:A joined in the middle of November and then due to a fall out with another clan, a quick influx of members joined at the end of November. At this point the name was officially changed to the Battle Armed Response Team later abbreviated to BAT.

It soon seemed necessary for BAT to appoint a Generals Council which consisted of, Morpheous, Logic, TL:A and Baldie. We appointed a CO named Shanky who later changed his name to Razor.

2004-2005
This represented a year of steady growth with Razor coordinating tactics, JO server hosting and Bof working hard on recruitment to bring in a steady influx of new members. We also moved to dedicated web hosting in this period and with the help of Marty from the SAS, we moved into shiny new forums and bought the batsquad.com domain.

2005-2006
This represented a year of significant change in BAT. The Generals council moved to 5 members with the appointment of Razor, Templar and Orgy. Morpheous and TL:A stepped down for family commitment reasons although there influence on the early years of BAT should never be underestimated.

With Joint Ops slowly dieing, the council started to look at other games, most notably BF2. This proved a very difficult transition as the player base from JO grew smaller and yet some players didn’t enjoy BF2. BAT lost a few older members throughout this period although the growth continued via recruitment from BF2. During this period, BAT also started to host it’s own Freelancer ‘role playing server’ which created a lot of interest. We successfully managed to secure a decent population for the server and had many good battles with other clans.

BAT entered league competitions throughout this year for both Joint Ops and BF2. The Joint Ops matches were based through V Wars and were friendly matches. As BF2 became more popular BAT entered organised league formats within Enemy down and proved fairly successful. The CGD (competitive gaming department) was formed to allow the more dedicated competitive gamer an opportunity to train and compete at the highest level possible.

Changes to the Generals Council were made mid year with both Orgy and Baldie (one of the founding fathers) stepping down. Orgy left his role as a General to dedicate more time to family whilst Baldie left altogether taking a break from online gaming. These positions were filled by Leon and Monty.

Monty left later that year due to family commitment reasons and was replaced by JET

Throughout this year, the focus had become that BAT was now more of an online gaming community rather than just a squad and this was reflected in the old forums having well over 700 members registered.
