defeat - is my element

Defeat - is a discrepancy between the result you are striving for and the result actually achieved. That's why the story of any life, as Sartre said, is a story of defeat: reality resists and gets the better of us.
The only way to avoid defeat is not to strive for results. This does not mean that any action should be stopped, it means that in any activity only the action itself is important. This is what is called wisdom and a genuine successful life. The attainment of wisdom, therefore, is possible only if one renounces the pursuit of it.
