The year is 1932. The country has been embroiled in a depression since 1929. States, fed up with the failure to address the problems, and the ever so declining state of the U.S. economy, have decided to leave the union. The Union Remnant, as it is now called (although it still refers to itself as the United States) has isolated itself in the Northeastern states, trying to maintian whatever power it has left. It also contains a stronghold in the Pacific Northwest, and California. Arizona and Texas have already left the union. The states of the Deep South have also left, and are in talks about reforming the C.S.A., although it has not materialized. North & South Dakota have set aside their differences, and have just become Dakota. Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana have united themselves into an totalitarian state known as the Midwest Superior. Louisiana and Arkansas have formed the state of Sequoyah. Sucession riots are occurring in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, with the Union Remnant desperately trying to maintain control. Canada and Mexico have both shut their borders, and shoot at any attempt to cross. Rumors persist that the Union Remnant is trying to bring in European forces to reclaim their lost land.
