Sword and Serpent is an Exiles server that proudly embraces Conan’s immortal maxim. For us, what sets the Conan universe apart from its peers is its Hobbesian brutality, unrepentant violence, and enduring danger. As a roleplaying community, we ardently welcome this chaos, because it is the spark of drama that makes the best characters, narratives, and gameplay experiences. Every moment you survive in the Exiled Lands, whether by the strength of a warrior’s sword arm, the sharpness of a thief’s cunning, or the wiles of a slave girl’s charm, is a triumph to be celebrated. We live. We slay. We love. We die.

This server therefore strives to be minimalist, immersive, and challenging. Fear and violence saturate the wasteland. The elements and nature conspire to destroy you. There is no refuge.
To that end, we keep harvesting rates low, starvation and thirst rates high, and nights realistically long. Drop on death is here to stay, as is decay. Some allowance has been made for XP gain given that it presents a hurdle to roleplay. These settings may be tweaked in the future, but the goal they try to achieve will not be.

This vision extends to our admins, as well. We avoid using admin commands as much as possible, and we will zealously avoid spawning in items. 90% of their time, admins should be playing the game and enjoying it on the same level as the rest of the players, with only 10% of their time being dedicated to maintaining the server. Any items available in Pippi kits will confer no substantive combat or survival advantage, period.
