ABOUT The S5 Society

Because who doesn't like gifts?

Before you ask, it stands for The Southeastern Steam Sale Shenanigans Society.

Yes, I know, that's S4. Shut up.

GabeN be praised.

Here's the blurb from the Facebook group:

So here's how it is.

Steam sales are awesome, right? We all know this. We love them.

During this Christmas season I got an idea. Games we know and love are cheap during the massive Steam sales. Really cheap. I just got New Vegas and all the DLC for like $17, which is awesome.

So I thought, why don't we make a Secret Santa type group and gift one or two games to friends? We all like getting gifts, and with prices as they are, I think we can all afford to spend $5 or $10 to give our friends a cool game we like or they might like. 'tis the season and all that jazz.

So, here's how it'll work:
- During massive Steam sales (Minimum Christmas and Summer, but I'm open to other ones if everyone's for it) I'll give each group member someone else in the group to give a gift to, forming a large chain. For instance, me -> Erik -> Bobby -> Colin -> me.
- Sometime during the sale, you purchase and gift a game (or some DLC or whatever) to your assigned friend. Steam makes this really easy with wish lists and you being able to see who has what game, so duplicates won't be accidentally given, and stuff like DLC can be awarded knowing they have the game.

Baseline rules:
- Total purchases cannot exceed $10. We're poor college students, and there might be some weird feelings about getting something like Skyrim from someone and only giving Magicka to your person. If you want to work something out with your assigned partners and have a higher spending limit, that's cool, but otherwise $10 limit.
- If you want to invite someone else to this group, awesome. The more the merrier. Just make sure they have a Steam ID and stuff that we can all share.
- I invited people I know who have Steam. If you don't want to participate, that's totally fine as well. Just leave the group.

Any other questions, post on the wall or message me or some shenanigans.
