A GALAXY IN TURMOIL!

The year is 3946 BBY, and it is ten years since the end of the Jedi Civil War. The five decades of war preceding this time have left the Republic destitute, chaotic, and fragile; any crisis has the potential to doom all hope of a functioning galactic government. Such uncertainty has also led to the collapse of galactic markets, which only makes the Republic’s job more difficult.

The mighty fleet which engaged the Republic's enemies such as the Mandalorians and the the Sith legions of Exar Kun and Darth Revan is now in disarray, in many cases sectors only having a presence on paper, and the High Command is buckling under the strain of managing security duties, dealing with remnants of the Sith Empire and the political machinations of the Senate.

Amidst this turmoil the Jedi Order, which was all but destroyed by the Sith of the Triumvirate, tries to rebuild. The followers of Meetra Surik are taking a leading role in the new order, which still represents only a handful of Jedi compared to the size of the galaxy. Along with this, the survivors of the last conflicts who have resurfaced wish to establish themselves as leaders of the order. Internal strife is all the future seems to hold.

The one constant in this period has been the rise to power of Crime Syndicates throughout the Mid-Rim and closing on the Core. Once exiled to the far reaches of the Outer Rim, they now present stablising force for those who lack work and established certain sets of skills in the last wars. Yet, some feel the actions of the Exchange go far beyond what some would see as taking advantage; too calculated and aggressive against the Republic.

Yet, many are thankful that the Sith seem to be cast away from controlling galactic affairs. The various warlords representing nothing compared to even moderate defensive forces. However, the Jedi that remain know they must be vigilant as the teachings of the Sith could lead to new groups of fanatics who make up for their lack of formal organisation with guile and ferociousness.

The fate of the Galaxy hangs in the balance...
