While I don't know too much about transgender people, I know quite a lot about biology. According to what I know, trans people do not fit into the binary of male and female. They are much more a 'combination' of both (like female brain structure but male reproductive organs, etc.). That makes them biologically similar to intersex people, who do not fit clearly into the binary structure. Now I did encounter a trans person that got really offended by being called 'not normal' in a biological sense. I don't really understand that entirely. Of course a trans person should not be treated like an alien, but denying that being trans is 'not normal' still seems sort of weird to me.
