When I reopened them, hoping the community would chill out and be less toxic, it turned out to be a huge mistake. I've been flooded with complaints about "lag" that, quite frankly, isn't even real. It feels like there's some weird conspiracy against me and my servers, with people just spamming "lag" in chat to push everyone to different servers.

You just don't like me. But honestly, why should I keep pouring my own resources into running these servers for people who seem so ungrateful and also seem to hate me? If you don't want me to host servers, just say it, openly. And let’s be real – netcode issues are beyond my control. I'm not a wizard with a magic wand to fix all netcode problems.

I'm probably just not wasting enough power with 128 cores from an AMD EPYC processor or 64 from an Intel Xeon. That's probably where the issue lies. That's also why everything else that I host doesn't run well. Oh, wait, everything else actually runs smoothly except these PvP servers apparently, isn't this weird?

Long story short, I have actually snitched, sent some people around to check everything out. This is how I came to know about this conspiracy. And, surprise, surprise every single other server experiences the same "lags". So, there you have it.

My PvP servers are shutting down for good with no intention of making a comeback ever again. Thanks to everyone who wasted my time and effort and I hope to never see you again.

I was quite tired with some people telling me my server was bad, and that's clearly people with little to no knowledge in networking. This is not the only reason why I'm doing this, but I have opened a few servers in both North and South Italy. Server names will contain "NorthItaly" or "SouthItaly" according to where they're located. You will instantly notice a difference depending on your location, since routing is different.

Of course this comes with good news, because you get more free servers, so enjoy and have fun. Remember, it's a game, don't be toxic to each other.

I've reinstated them to give the community another chance to enjoy the game together without being toxic to each other. All three regular PvP servers that were previously available for public use are now up and running again.

I regret to inform you that due to ongoing and escalated Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, coupled with the game community's unsuccessful attempts to resolve these issues, I have made the challenging decision to permanently shut down the Serious Sam PVP servers.

Our datacenter recently experienced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack during night hours. While I possess information on the individual responsible, I have chosen not to disclose their identity, nor to take any immediate action against this act.

In light of this occurrence, there are some key points that I would like to bring to everyone's attention.

The DDoS attack impacted the entire span of our services, including livestreaming and other critical operations anchored in our datacenter.

Among the various amenities we offer, the Serious Sam servers continue to operate primarily due to their personal sentimental value. However, I must express clearly that my interest in managing the game's community has diminished significantly due to ongoing challenges, causing me to relinquish the task entirely.

Given recent developments, I am compelled to warn that a recurring unfavorable event similar to the DDoS attack will most likely result in shutting down the Serious Sam servers. Feeding my decision is the disinterest in dealing with irksome community behavior.

Notwithstanding the above, the potential for retaining our co-op server does remain open, as current circumstances permit.
