I shall remind you that the Serious Sam series was meant to be Cooperative, in SS TFE, there was only one DM map, more in TSE. Up to these days, the best DM game remains SSHD TSE, because it's easy to handle and kinda fluid, no matter the flaws related to latency.
As long as a game has a Versus mode, there is indeed a sort of competition between players, some will quickly become stronger than the others and they'll play to be the best. Not everyone is like this though. All leaderboards differ from who rules it, The Serious Ranker was a good initiative that got ruined pretty quickly by people abusing it...

Se veramemte volete che ci sia un torneo importante, chiamate gli sponsor, invece io vedo solo tanta gente che fa un torneo random.
Finche io non vedo una buona base, non parteciperò a nessun torneo.
