Locking Down a Space Engineers Server, the Hard Way

So setting a server to friends only, or private doesn't actually work. This has the unwanted tendency of attracting the less desirable trolls. This is a private group for access to my puny survival server I've got running. If you want in, then prove to me that you're not a tool. There's nothing too fancy here, and like the game itself, we're still messing about with this. Don't like it?--you've got 200+ other places to explore.

So I basically skipped last weeks patch and didn't bother bringing the server up. It really was a 'meh' patch anyway.

However... this week... OMG, Keen, finally pulled it off! We can now have sides. What's this mean for us? Dunno yet. Hell, as I write this, I've only got 2 members so it's not like intergalactic war is brewing or anything. But it can mean that once we get some defenses up, we can open this up to the public.

Equally, I can choose to shutter the server and join Rick on his in a more permanent sense. I've got the bandwidth, I think, but nothing to the scale that one would want for larger based play.

The server is up and running stable. (Yet another instance of a zero sized 'roid causing the whole thing to choke - fixed, permanently)

So we can now do RoboEngineers in SE, excellent. In addition, we can set a fixed sized world with garbage control, even better for me! Now lets see if the other issues have been polished up so it's not a chore to play...

Server is up and set to 500km with spawn ship cleanup. Enjoy!

I lied, read my comments below on the state of things.

Update: One stupid asteroid with zero volume seemed to muck it all up. Server is fixed, Everything works. We're still on old netcode so be wary of docking on anything moving.

Hotfix applied, server back up
