Regiment 901, Panzer-Lehr (130th Panzer Division)

The Panzer-Lehr was an elite Panzer division formed in 1943 from training and demonstration units to provide extra strength to defend against the impending Allied invasion. The Panzer-Lehr was the only Wehrmacht Panzer division to be fully equipped with tanks and halftracks to transport its Panzergrenadier units.

The Panzer-Lehr fought in several battles, some almost to the point of destruction such as Operation Cobra.

Because the division was made up almost entirely of instructors and trainers from the Panzer schools it was composed of mostly hardened veterans. Almost all had seen combat against enemy armor on the other fronts and had received decorations for said combat, because of that it was considered an Elite unit at the time of its creation.
