Team Background and History:

Orphic E-Sports is a professional Counter Strike team, currently specialising in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and playing on the Professional Oceanic CGX League
Since having burst onto the scene in early 2004 at the prestigious Australian Cup Counter Strike Invitational (1st place) and then only two months later at the North Korea "Game for Grain" charity event (2nd place), Orphic has become a household name in the world of professional Counter Strike
From 2004 - 2009, Orphic gaming dominated not only the Australian Counter-Strike scene, but also had strong results at an international level (5th place, 2008 World Cyber Games). Unfortunately due to internal management issues, the team was forced to shut down at the peak of their fame.
Since the days of Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S), Orphic has remained disbanded and has not competed in any form of Counter-Strike, until 2018 when the original members Matthew “reliQ” Stevens and Jonothan “Johnny” Gaming had a vision of bringing Orphic back to it’s former glory, except this time in the latest format of Counter Strike - id est: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
The 2018 CS:GO lineup consists almost entirely of the original "Dream Team" ( NY TIMES Magazine , June 24 2008. pp 22-24) that captured the hearts and minds of the world at the 2008 WCG. Unfortunately Steve "KittyKat" Harvy was killed in 2014 and is replaced by his son, Boris “Fryl” McConnel.
Orphic is the first professional E-Sports team across any game genre to complete with players with an age discrepancy greater than 30 years. Referred to as the “only team who successfully blended two generations together“ (Cyber-Gamer Magazine interview, issue 72 pp/ 83-84), Orphic is proud to be one of the few gaming teams who do not age discriminate.

Controversy surrounding Orphic Gaming:

In the 2004 "Game for Grain" charity event in North Korea, it has been rumoured that Orphic was given faulty mice by the North Korean Adjudicators in an attempt at jeopardising their chances at winning. Due to the sensitive nature of North Korea at the time, there was no way of verifying these claims, however there does exist the video footage of the finals where you can see North Korean officials holding semi automatic weapons at the Orphic Gaming booth.
