NATO Armed Forces - Military Roleplay & Simulation Group

While I know our fair little group has been inactive since September, with the holiday season around the corner, I find myself with more free time as of late. As such, I've been motivated to start a project I've wanted to do since we moved to Arma 3, the creation of a full fictional micronation, which I've dubbed Project Sahrani . As most of you know, I've had a keen interest in doing a full on nation for a long time, going back to the short lived Caledonia project in 2014.

What is Project Sahrani?

The project will be an effort to establish a full military and civilian life roleplay within the United Kingdom of Sahrani set during the present day and time. By this I mean a quasi-public server (resources allowing) set along the lines of Arma Life, with a full gauntlet of military and civilian life set on the island of Sahrani and the Sahranian colony on Isla Duala.

My eventual hope is to have a living breathing country, with regular news and happenings, exercises, and political intrigue. Another very important aspect will be the Imperial and Noble families, which control the nations House of Lords and nearly all of the countries major political and military offices, as well as the continued healing process of the 2008 Sahrani Civil War which saw the country reunited for the first time since 1952.

The military will be the full national branch layout (Royal Sahrani Armed Forces), with a Royal Army Corps, Air Corps, and Naval branches. Further information will be released with this along with a full indepth history of the nation soon.

Another element of this roleplay will be hopefully an embassy located in Secondlife, which will be an outreach to bring in new membership as well as to "fly the flag."

How soon will this happen?

Well, this I can't say for certain. I will be working regularly on details, especially full national and military history, character biographies (including what I hope to be a large assortment of NPC characters which will play ongoing roles), and the creation of a formal "national" website with forums and news.

Again, I hope to eventually open a small server perhaps at the first of the year to host this project, for now I will be hosting locally at times, and light RP will begin with folks in the NATO group. A rough guestimate on a "public" go date is the first of the year but I won't say this is a sure thing.

In the meantime, as I mentioned, I will be working regularly on this project, especially in the realm of writing the history of the nation and royal family, military, and economy. This will be strongly based on the original Sahrani laid out in the Arma game, with minor changes to a few areas of recent history to better fit into the present day.

What can I do to help?

I'm going to be needing a ton of help, especially with writing in some areas, as well as the establishment of the Royal Armed Forces. I will be reaching out to all of your with help in these areas.

Do I have to portray the Sahrani military or citizen?

At present, no, I know a few members have already spoken with me about retaining US and other forces in the group. Given that Sahrani is a NATO member, NATO forces are stationed on the island however in small numbers. I am very open to the idea of small detachments on the island, and "foriegn" deployments will be posted as in the past as NATO organized and deployed units. Project Sahrani will not be the driving force, but rather something that's a part of NATO and open to all member nations.
