Dev Log 01

Interaction system very barebones currently

Tracks what we are looking at, If its in range,and if its a interactabe game

object type
If its a interactable game object, then it decides which type, in this case its a resource interactable, think of a rock/tree etc, later can be expanded into, a door, castle gates lever etc
Resource interactable, locks WASD movement, and puts user smoothly into 3rd person so they can look around, mimicking new world gathering system.

Stat System

Gold, Health, Hunger, Social have all been added, deciding on how to display them, I really wanna keep the screen with zero UI, so maybe have these values in your character sheet idk yet
Working clunky health system, game tracks health, if it gets to zero die and respawn at the respawn game object.

Im learning game development atm, I want to turn what the gmod medieval servers where into their own game! I finally got out of the military and have the GI BILL, Which means im getting paid to simply show up to class for 4 years, So im blessed with a unique opportunity to learn a passion of my choosing.I will be using these next 4 years to focus on learning programming to create our dream medieval game.

Id like to have the dream game in a alpha playable state by 2029-2030. My plan is to make smaller bite scale games along the way, which will allow myself to release some playable little games along the way. This lets me still work towards the dream game but also make progress, since we can re use content, and core gameplay loops, and learning is the whole goal!

My Progress so far ( not much )

- Spent 2 months learning basics of python
- Start computer science degree, with a minor in game development in august.
- Spent two days on unity,unreal and godot to see what I liked best. I liked godot so I spent the past couple days following tutorials on godot.
