As Maria weeps, Europe burns!

Europe set itself ablaze in religious war. For twelve years the Habsburgs in the mighty Spanish Empire and the Holy Roman Emperor in Vienna have fought against the Protestants for religious hegemony. In the north, Sweden has taken the war to a new level as it's noble King, Gustav II Adolf, invades the Holy Roman Empire. In France the powerful Cardinal Richelieu rules on behalf of Louis XIII with an iron fist, despite being Catholic herself, France now plots against the Emperor to weaken Habsburg power.
