ABOUT Malpais' Legion

The Exiled Legion

In Memorium to the original Legate of Caesar's Legion, feared as Malpais Legate, renown in folk legends as The Burned Man, baptized in flames as Joshua Graham.

The Bull of Caesar's Legion has fallen, and so, carpe diem.

Ezekiel 1:10, New Standard American Version;

As for the form of their faces, each had the face of a man; all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and all four had the face of an eagle.

The face of the Eagle, representing the Roman Empire, has long since fallen.
The face of man, representing humanity, has tragically fallen.
The face of the Bull, representing Caesar's Legion, has ultimately fallen.

The face of the Lion, now representing Malpais Legate II's Legion, has risen and shows great promise for the future.

Hail, Malpais Legate II.
Hail to His Legion.

On July 13th, 2158, a tribesman for the Dead Horses is born, named as ‘Blood-Upon-Hands’, in the Zion Canyon. He was grown as a hunter and a guard for his tribal camp, defending it against their opposing tribe, the ‘White Legs’. In the year 2276, Caesar and his then Legate, Joshua Graham, known as Malpais Legate showed up to the Zion Canyon, in an effort to recruit members for Caesar’s Legion. Upon meeting the Dead Horses tribe, the White Legs had attacked the camp, and subsequently, Caesar and Malpais Legate. In a mighty show of strength and skill, Blood-Upon-Hands had singlehandedly killed 7 White Legs and critically injured another 3, whilst some of Caesar’s Legionaries could not even fend off against one. Caesar and Malpais Legate, incredibly impressed by his show, immediately took on the tribesman as a Recruit Legionary. He quickly adopted the English language, and then quickly took on the Latin language, advancing to the rank of Recruit Decanus rather quickly in the Legion. Malpais Legate had taken a liking to the anxious Legionary and had passed on his Legion name, ‘Malpais’, to him. He took this gesture with ultimate gratitude, honored by it. Shortly after this, Malpais Legate suffered a decisive defeat at the First Battle for The Hoover Dam, and was covered in pitch, set on fire, and thrown down the Grand Canyon as an example to the rest of the Legion that failure is not acceptable. Shortly after the new Legate, Lanius, was selected as a replacement, Malpais made a blood oath that he would avenge his former mentor, Malpais Legate.
