For the campaign we will use MapTools as a visual representation of the game world, you can download it for free at http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=downloads#MapTool make sure to get and install maptool-1.3.b76.zip to ensure compatability. Please open up and run Maptools before we start on Wednesday to make sure it works. Also, if you can, try to make it a bit early (7:30ish PST) so we can sync up and test it out a but, if you can't make it early, that's fine too, you won't miss any role playing.

The town militia is recently formed and notoriously incompetent and a small time crime syndicate known as the cobalt basilisks has risen to a small amount of power. Nevertheless, the town somewhat retains its quaint, forest-village charm and the surrounding forests are picturesque and generally considered safe for travel. Try to think of a way and a reason that your character has arrived at Helmsford or the surrounding area.

-Let me know what types of equipment you can and would like to use. (implements, weapons, armor, shields, etc) for example, you might make a paladin who only wields 1 handed hammers and a shield, uses a holy symbol, and will wear either plate or chainmail armour. This is so I know what types of items to drop for you.
-The campaign will start in the bustling little town of Helmford, a forest town that is comprised of equal parts elven, human, and dwarven residents. The town is in the midst of a growth spurt as mithril was recently discovered in the nearby foothills, prompting a wave of prospectors, adventure-seekers, and nefarious characters to move to the town. In the span of 3 years, they have swelled from a hamlet of about 75 people who all knew each other to a town of well over 1000 people, most hungry for mithril. (continued in next comment)

Hello

So I have 3 peoples character sheets and I know what one more person is going to be. So far we conveniently have 1 leader, 1 controller, 1 striker, and 1 protector, so for those who havent decided, it looks like anything will work. If you havent given me your sheets, if I could get them by monday at 7(PST), that would be super helpful.

Some notes I may or may not have mentioned to all of you:

-In addition to starting with the standard 100g, you can also choose a level 1 magic item.
-You can choose one of the background bonuses found in PHB2. You may choose an additional background bonus at the cost of -3 to a skill of your choosing based on your background.
-Please send me a picture of your character if you havent already, otherwise Ill make something up

Does anyone have character ideas at this point? Assuming anything WotC is legit, I'm good to play any role (so far I'm thinking Runepriest [Leader], Monk [Striker], Druid [Controller], or Fighter [Defender]). Just let me know what gaps we have to fill in. :>
