The compass in Player Unknown's Battleground is an overlooked tool. It is essential to planning and locating enemies. It is a typical compass as it has North, East, South and West. There are also little increments inbetween the poles called bearings.

The compass is used to communicate by providing a detailed degree of where an enemy or enemies are located. It is also used in the game when planning where to travel.
Adversely, unless your teammates are standing relatively close towards you, the bearings may alter slightly.


Understanding Common Mistakes
There is no doubt that when playing with a friend or in a squad in Player Unknown's Battlegrounds communication is the key to success. Being able to effectively tell your teammates where an enemy, loot or vehicle is essential. However some players often complicate this to the point it becomes confusing. Therefore keeping your instructions short, clear and concise could mean the difference between winning and losing.

These are just my suggestions to improving your teamwork to a high level which enables fast and accurate decisions. Below, I will list the things that often confuse your teammates when communicating.

Be cautious when using Left and Right! - Using left or right in any situation is a risk given the fact that your right might be different to your teammates right and or left etc.
Not understanding other players abbreviations - For example the term AR has two potential meanings to players in-game. It either means Assault Rifle or the M16A4 as it is very similar to the AR-15 rifle.

Shouting when warning teammates of an enemy - There's an issue to this problem and that being shouting makes us feel if there's an immediate danger and makes us panic. If your group panics you will be more likely to slip up and cause your other teammates to die.

Flaming isn't going to get you anywhere. Period. - This just isn't a good thing to do anyway. You must accept the fact that sometimes you mess up and so do other people, just move on and learn from it as insulting other people for your mistakes or others isn't going to fix the problem.

Basics of Communicating Effectively

This section of the guide is what is the most important. How to actually get your point through quickly and understandable. Below are some phrases which you will use the most when playing in a team. Some of these may seem like common sense, however, to some they might be unaware.
What to say when you have spotted an enemy - "Enemy bearing [Position on compass]."

This is also the same for multiple enemies. However state how many there are;

What to say if the enemies are grouped together - "[Number of enemies] Enemies bearing [Position on compass]."

What to say if the enemies are split up - "[Number of enemies] Enemies bearing [1st Enemy Bearing], [2nd Enemy Bearing], [3rd Enemy Bearing] and [4th Enemy Bearing]."

Examples of this;
An Enemy - "Enemy bearing 340."
Grouped Enemies - "3 Enemies bearing 190."
Splitted Enemies - "4 Enemies bearing 210, 225, 230 and 245."

What to say if you have found loot which you don't need but your teammates do - "Spare [Loot Type] Over Here."

This one may seem like common sense but it actually isn't. A common mistake is to say the wrong type of medical supply. As many people shorten the First Aid Kit to the Med Kit which are two different things! This also occurs with the M16A4 and the M416.
The "Over Here" part is generally common sense however is it shorter than saying "There is a med kit in the building over here."

What to say if you have spotted an empty vehicle - "[Vehicle Name] bearing [Position on compass]."

If you don't know the vehicle names I highly suggest you learn them as there are 4 main types (As of 10/05/17); A Dacia (Is a little car.), A Buggy (Looks like a homemade go-kart.), A UAZ (Looks like a jeep.) and a Motorbike.

This method of communication should be easy to understand now and therefore can be applied to other things in the game.
Condensed - Advanced Level Of Communicating Effectively
This is a short section that covers a few points that can make your communication skills alot more accurate. It builds upon the skills previously covered in the basic skills chapter.

Saying "Enemy bearing [Position on compass]" is fine for keeping track of the enemies however detail is needed in the later stages of the game. As a result more variables are added to the basic phrase to effectively communicate with a teammate.
A few of these variables include;
If they are inside a building and you seen them in a window. "[Building Floor] Floor", "[Window number from closest side] from the [Right / Left]."

If they are in a field or a wide open area running to a house. "[Moving Type] [Bearing they are running to] ~ [Towards / Away] & [Where they are going to (opt.)(Describe it in 3 or less words)]."

An example of this is "Enemy bearing 190 Walking North West toward Red House."
