How To Get Closed Beta Keys:
1) If you are in the US (sorry, this is US ONLY) go to the curse.com link below and make an account (you don't even have to email verify or use a real email), you will recieve a key on the same page URL after you login.

2) Go to the Tribes Ascend website (link below) and apply for a beta key (this could take a while to get them and maybe not at all, so try method 3 as well)

3) Check with other group members, as each Closed Beta member from the US gets 3 extra keys to share, so they may have spares (try to save these for those outside the US or after the cursed ones run out for US players, but feel free to prioritize your Steam friends over the group).

How to get Steam Overlay to Work with Tribes:
If you add the file in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hi-Rez Studios" folder that says Hi-Rez LauncherUI.exe to your library as a non-steam game, even though it is just a launcher, the steam overlay will work with the game (useful as the game has no real voice chat right now). If you want it to be named something other than "Hi-Command" use the free software tool Resourse Hacker to modify the line in the "Version Info" of the file under "File Description" and do Save As... and give it the same name as the original launcher.

VIP Status (in Tribes):
It seems that if you purchase any real money transaction during the closed beta you get LIFETIME VIP status. From what I can gather this means when it goes Free-2-Play on release, you will have access to more private or better public servers, which hopefully will be less crowded. You also get 50% more exp/tokens after battles. Personaly, I grabbed the cheapest one available since $7.99 for this game is a good deal, but its up to you.

Competitive Play:
Not sure if there is going to be any before the release, but if someone has done competitive play in other games, I would be interested in seeing what it takes to organize.
