It's a great quote. But what if the very constructs that make us happy, are merely delusional masks to shield us from the grim horror that is sentient life. That the simple truth is that everything boils down to a simple, selfish gene that wants to replicate like a virus. If religion is the opium of the masses, then surely most other human concepts are as well. (That's a wee excerpt from Dark Rapture, a sci-fi IF I'm working on.
