A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure Game.

Hey all,

It has been a long, long while for HUB, and it has gone under a lot of changes, so much so that it's not even the same game or code base anymore. HUB was initially designed as a single player adventure game based on platforming, puzzle solving and exploration of the mysterious HUB facility...

Jump forward a year or two to today, HUB is now multiplayer only utilizing the scratch template code base for better performance and multiplayer issues, instead of the bloated codebase found in the HL2MP source code. On the other side of the spectrum in level design the mod is aiming for a total conversion of the source engine, after acquiring some key software that cost a pretty penny the HUB will be recreated in full detail and redesigned for multiplayer.

For instance, world textures will be created utilizing baked normal’s and other techniques to create a highly stylized yet hyper-realistic environment, special effects now included in the scratch template such as HDR tone mapping and color correction will be put to heavy use alongside these textures to create the feeling of something other than another source mod. In all, the plan is to utilize the existing capabilities of the engines material system to create a higher quality texture palette.

To top it off I have added several new features to the game in the past three weeks that already help make the game a more robust experience. Here are some of the features that have been finished.

-Iron sights w/ field of view zoom and alert sounds for other players.
-Dynamic Scopes on every scoped weapon.
-No more crosshair, but this is a given with the addition of iron sights.
-Exaggerated weapon recoils for that more rewarding feeling of shooting, not to mention player based accuracy is now a big deal...
-Magazine Style Reloads to reinforce resource management.
-Wounded System, take a lot of damage? Prepare to bleed-out, this is not COD...
-Regenerative Health system for use in 'Auto-Docs' in world.
-Class based health, armor, and movement speeds with more adv. differences to come

Now for the big features...

-A leveling system called the Skilldex rewards XP points for kills and eventually 'Artifact' collection, level up your SynRank up to 21 ranks and earn the benefits such as health bonuses and speed increases with more bonuses to come.
-Last Man Standing based Gamerules, collect the most artifacts or be the last one standing, earn lives for killing others and collecting artifacts. *Debugging this currently*

In the Works...

-BitCoin System, no not the real BitCoin’s but something very similar, or though wouldn't it be cool to be rewarded real BitCoin’s for kills and artifacts? Food for thought...
-Weapons will require specific SynRanks to be picked up, with less powerful weapons requiring low SynRanks and more powerful weapons requiring higher SynRanks.
-Artifact Collection- explore, loot and rob your friends for their precious Artifacts, adding to your BitCoin total and your overall Score.
-A Super-Weapon of horrible powers, the fabled Holy Hand Grenade..
