We were ambushed, the Vagyr had a hidden fleet in the system, we didn't expect them to be able to regroup in such force. They've taken out most of the fleet, and any vessels left are decending to the planet below, but with this much damage, they won't be able to land safely, it'll be a hard drop. The Pride class mothership Daedalus has remained in orbit to hold off and distract the Vagyr forces, to allow the other vessels to have enough time to touchdown and find places to hold out until extraction conditions can be met, but it's not looking good. The Daedalus is taking sustained bombardment from those battlecruisers, and we're not sure how long the hull will hold, or any of the systems. Most point defense systems have already been disabled, and the engines won't hold us in low orbit for long, the planet is massive, and it has a gravity well to match. I hate to have to say it, but even if we by some miracle hold them off, we won't be able to escape the gravity well. The Daedalus has seen it's last fight, it seems. The Vagyr seem to have some kind of jamming systems, and it's not likely this message will make it out, which is why it's being deployed in a blackbox satilite, and transmitting on an encrypted frequency, so only close range comms stations in orbit of New Hiigara can read it... Here's hoping atleast some of the data makes it through the scramblers.
If this blackbox never finds it's way back home, or is found too late? It's been an honor.
