ABOUT Gamerlitics

NEW Indie Game Studio

Hello everyone!

This name has been long in mind for the past 5 years and the goal of creating new games has been long dreamed of since I was a child. As of right now, this studio consists of just me (1 person in total). I currently work full time as an engineer (not Comp Sci related) and have been entertaining my game developer goal over the past year. My knowledge in game dev is extremely limited, however I am confident in my ability to learn and create entertaining games that are at least fun to me - and thus I hope that my game(s) will also be fun to you all as well. I am a gamer at heart.

While this may sound lackluster, I have already begun on my first project in my free time over the past 1 year. There hasn't been as much work as I would like there to be, but I have at least created the core concept on the gameplay for this game. This includes my months of work in creating java scripts despite my lack of comp sci knowledge. The game will play and I believe it works as I want it! However there are still so many more things to do; it is incredible how much work is required for creating what people consider a "simple" game even, and how much artistic decision making there is over the fundamental gameplay. While I have the functionability of the gameplay completed, that is honestly just maybe 10% of the overall work required for the game. I have never been an artistic person, but I am now tackling on the creative portions (basically everything).

At my current pace, I am giving myself ~4 years (no later than Spring 2029), but I am hoping to have it out sooner. I am indifferent when it comes to popularity; I just want to provide a game at least once in my life that many (but not necessarily all) people can enjoy. Myself included.

Please follow and watch for my first game. I hope to post updates as I get time to work on it, and I hope that will help me stay consistent and thoughtful throughout my game dev. journey on my first game.

Thank you for reading!

April 2026 Update - Tempered Heart: Pilgrim's Mark

Hello Everyone,

It has been a few months since I last posted and the good news is that the game has still been continuously worked on! However, I realized that in order for the game to have a better chance out in the Steam market, that a Steam page for the game should be set up way in advance despite still being at least 1 year away from release. Good news: my first game's Steam page will be up very soon! It is currently in review and will be under the series title - Tempered Heart: Pilgrim's Mark. Please stay tuned for it's appearance!

In March alone, the name took about a full 2 days of hard brainstorming based off the story that I had written for it. The story also took about 1-2 weeks of off and on planning, while also relating to the world map. The Steam capsules graphic art also required an expert that I had to commission out to! And then I realized as I was developing more monsters that I still need a good number of character sprites for each unique monster/enemy.

While I am hoping to complete development sooner, I would gladly sacrifice an early release in order to ensure quality. This also means that I would like to play test it myself because I am a gamer first and a developer second; but I can confidently say that there were times in development where I felt myself locked into the gameplay loop of this first game that I forgot I was developing the game. Then I started to get upset that there weren't more monsters to fight against, but I remembered I was the developer so I went back to fleshing out more.

I share this because this is why I am continuing the development of my first game, regardless of being limited in 2D because I am still learning and am only a one man army (minus the various artist commissions I order such as the Steam capsule graphical art). Sure this may not be a smash hit, but I want to do my best to create something enjoyable still that also pays homage to older games.

The development does not just include gameplay but also the story. This first game's story has been written, but not thoroughly laid out just yet in terms of dialogue. The gameplay loop has been established but many more enemies and monsters (and even the player character) needs to be developed and fine tuned. The world map and the specific zones have been created, but the map areas and tilesets still need to be added. There is so much to do, but I am continuously building and adding to it.

Currently almost half of the monsters still need to be developed with regards to the combat. Numbers wise, this means out of a total of 70 unique enemies, almost 35 of them (half, 50%) have been developed with unique attack patterns. Then I need to quality check all of them and fine tune everything. Once the combat is done, I will need to develop each area's maps. When the maps are complete, it is just a matter of adding in the story elements and sequences. Finally, the finishing touches like all the unique items, stores, and numbers on EVERYTHING (combat, shops, gear stats, etc.) need to be crunched and reviewed.

I want to say that I am currently ~40% of the way in development from what I believe still needs to be done. Not bad huh? I hope you stay tuned in to the first game's release!

This is going to be a great game :yourFate:

Gamerlitics reviews
"Generally interested and reviewing RPG Fantasy Games, but if the gameplay is good then I will always take a look regardless of the genre. Graphics are not the biggest concern but rather the game's "fun" factor."
