Be prepared

On a day as cold as the frozen wastes of Northrend, the lake stirred, rippes expanding from a spot near the center. As the first ripple touch the shore the ground shook like a dargon rolling over in it's sleep. Soon, the source of the movement started approaching the shore, moving ever closer as the seconds turned to minutes. the temperature dropped further, the trees growing frost and the dust on the ground starting to shake loose as the vibrations grew and the ripples moved closer. After a small eternity the source had gotten close to the land, but then a bulge formed on the skin of the water, as though something was writhing beneath it, growing in streangth, waiting to burst out strong enough to devour the unsuspecting world. The trees became cold enough to crack where they stood, young and old dieing as their sap oozed onto the frozen ground only to become small amber rocks.

As the bulging force grew ever closer the ground around the edge of the lake finally fractured under the strain, bits of geothermal steam escaping as mist in the dieing light of the now approaching sunset. After a wait not unlike the passing of ages the water broke to reveal a figure, soaked to the bone and shambling now broken land until it reached a hill overlooking the lake that it had been sealed within for so long. It gave a long considering look to it's old home before turning around to confront it's future, for in the distance stood a town, it's lights just coming on to outshine the stars as night embraced it. The creature released a long sigh before standing straightt and giving a small smile. Slowly it's mouth parted to clear it's throat of disuse before speaking to a world too long devoid of it's presence...
