Old, abandoned group of the Hardermode Rebalance project for Don't Starve Together.

New Steam Group

We are moving to a new Steam group which can be found here.

Back in 2017 we felt Don't Starve Hardermode was too official a name. We didn't want players to confuse it for a Klei project. Eventually Hardermode Rebalance was decided upon.

We didn't realize until later than Klei policy forbids the use of "Don't Starve" and "Don't Starve Together" as the first words of a mod's name. The mod was not an issue as it had been renamed years before.

However the name of the Steam group had not been changed. This group was created back when we weren't sure what we wanted the project to be and, if we recall correctly, the mod was still named "Don't Starve Hardermode" at the time.

Unfortunately we cannot rename Steam groups once they are created. While it is not part of Klei's policy at this time we do not want the name of the Steam group to cause confusion among players. We feel that it is important to follow Klei's naming convention as this is a group dedicated to a mod.

Due to this we are moving to a new Steam group which can be found here. We would love to see you there!

We have been considering it for some time. However changing groups was always going to be a major annoyance and detrimental to the project. However having Don't Starve in the groups name was also an issue and could lead to major issues in the future.

We have decided that the best time to move the group, aside from 2017, is right now. The project has officially been on Hiatus but internally we have been moving to a new file system and work has been done behind the scene's. The Steam group change is part of what we have been working on.

Development is going to partially continue while the mod is moved over, and we have been testing balance changes while doing QA testing. Once we feel enough QA has been done development will likely cease completely for a time, although we aren't sure right now.

The old group will stay but no new threads can be created and no new members can join. Current threads will stay viewable. Links should now point to the new group.

The developer commentaries will remain viewable and will not be moved over. It's a little too much work to move them over. However all new developer commentary will rbe published on the new steam group.

The official changelog will now be a section on the new Steam group. The Steam workshop thread is a complete mess and is difficult to find information. The Steam group will allow us to better sort information so players can find the information they want easier.
