Stuff 'n Things

So in order to make things interesting, we may try something different when we get to Ragnarok. We'll still spend some time in Aberration and the upcoming Exinction map, but afterwards we might try out a roleplaying server. In order to make this work, however, I'll most likely be dissallowing item and dino transfers to this new server (character transfers will probably be allowed). I know some are into this idea but others are more interested in progression, so I'm putting up a poll to get an idea of what everyone wants to do: ARK RP Poll[www.strawpoll.me]

I'm willing to open a second server for RP if you all help donate and are interested enough. If we do choose to open an RP server, it will likely be focused on medieval/renaissance technology, limiting TEK and modern weapons. We'll supplement this progression with mods such as CKF and Old World. I will also crank up the XP and harvesting rates so people can focus less on grinding and more on RP. The more serious the RP, the easier leveling up and harvesting will be to supplement this. PVP will be allowed but only when it contributes to the RP and when both players agree to it - while it's allowed, it will not be the focus of the server.

I'll pick some people to help me admin this and flesh out the system, but in the meantime here's our options at the moment:

No RP: We play Ragnarok just like any other map, focusing on progression, farming, breeding and murderizing the bosses.

Light RP: We play with some basic RP rules. Characters/plots can still be pretty goofy and wild. New Life Rule (NLR) will be in effect, meaning past grudges/interactions will be disregarded upon making a new character and recent intereractions will be ignored upon death. Metagaming enforcement will be light, and things said in general will be regarded as an "announcement" your character makes to the world. Things like combat and dungeon runs will, for the most part be normal. Random Death Match (RDM) will not be allowed, however, meaning you need an IC reason for fighting another player or their creatures.

Mild RP: We play with some semi-serious RP rules and expectations. Characters should be at least somewhat believable. All IC dialogue must be done in local/radio (either text or voice), while Discord chat will be regarded as OOC information. Permadeath will be present, but only when it contributes to the story, otherwise deaths will be treated as "severe injuries". Interactions with players will be turn based until they agree to start "free combat," meaning they can engage in combat with normal game mechanics. Obviously, you will need a good reason for engaging in PVP.

Serious RP: We play with the expectations that this is purely an RP server - your items and characters are forfeit - the only thing that will persist is your character's legacy. All dialogue and actions must be done via local chat/radio. Permadeaths will be common. Combat will be turn based and metagaming enforcement will be heavy. Overall, you're expected to respect the RP and storytelling over all else - items and dinos are only an accessory.
