Humanity is at the zenith of its power. Technology has advanced beyond comprehension. Earth is not only the beacon of humanity, but also a holy site held greatly and revered. Humanity has spread out far and wide, forming colonies, empires, and other factions. By the year 3000 and after contacting other species, with countless systems and sectors, the majority of humanity has united under the banner of the Holy Imperial Dominion, also known the Holy Imperium, and grafted others into the fold. Humanity soon found itself controlling most of the Milky Way galaxy, spread to many worlds and systems. Under this despotic holy regime, nothing was able to stop humanity's sudden and violent expansion across the stars. The Golden Age has began and with it the HID was given over 2,000 years of unparallel peace between mankind that has never been witnessed since the Pax Romana, in a now long and forgotten age. The HID seemed invincible, at least in the eyes of humanity. By the year 5010, in the outer colonies on the planet Arnos, the disgruntled lower classes rebelled against the HID, taking for themselves the strategic planet of Arnos, forming the Rebel Syndicate Insurgency(RSI). With a clear goal in mind, the Rebels began a series of attacks against the HID, occupying many more of the outer worlds as the HID is stretched too far. Though outmanned, outgunned, and outclassed, the Rebels resort to unconditional tactics and guerrilla warfare to stand a decent chance against the HID. To combat these insurgencies and to better defend humanity, the Imperial Monasterum started to intervene and deploy forces from its own military arm known as the Cohortes Templaris. The Templars would be sent on many operations to cripple the RSI, but as close as they were to victory, an unexpected event changed everything. In the year 5021, on the fringes of the HID, a civilization of advanced Dark Elves known as the Drukharei Ascendancy, has came into contact with the HID, but instead of a friendly greeting, the Ascendancy glassed the distant human world of Plutarus and enslaved the survivors. What followed next was a string of military defeats as the HID was kicked out of its outer colonies. Soon another threat resurfaced, Super Mutants. The HID has always combated these foul green monsters, but their resurfacing could not have came at a worst of time. For the next three thousand years, the universe endures constant warfare as other races soon join in the fray with neither side gaining a full advantage. You are one of these races destined to control the universe.
