Why Early Access?
“Battalion 1944 is being developed by competitive FPS players who grew up playing classic shooters and have worked to become one of the most experienced UE4 developers in the industry. As larger AAA developers are moving further and further away from old school mechanics in favor of simplicity, we want to recapture what made classic FPS games feel so great. This means fluid, skilled gameplay within a fair and competitive battleground.

Early Access allows people who feel the same way we do about FPS to join the active development of the game, as we release patches and updates based on community feedback. Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“We’re estimating Battalion 1944 to be in Early Access for around 1 year.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The Early Access version of Battalion is a solid ‘base’ for the game to expand from.
Throughout Early Access we plan to polish the core game with bug fixes, balance patches and content updates, adding new features and maps.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“The game currently includes a base level of maps, features & content, with aims to expand the game's feature list throughout Early Access. Competitive modes, weapons and rule sets are currently all being balanced live, with the game still under constant development, so expect regular patches & improvements until we hit full release. We have been iterating on the game through community feedback and will continue to do so during early access.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“Yes. Battalion 1944 will retail for a cheaper entry price during Early Access with the intent to raise the price at full release. This is to reward and encourage those who invest in Battalion for the long term during Early Access. All extra DLC content will be free.

For full transparency: Players have the option to buy cosmetics if they would like to support the development of the game and future content. Funds will also go towards high level competitive tournaments. By giving players the option to pay for cosmetics - we feel players can decide for themselves how much they would like to support Battalion 1944.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“We’re proud of our open development process where we’re brutally honest, raw and transparent with our thoughts on not just Battalion but the FPS genre as a whole. We aim to be accessible so we encourage people to talk to us directly via our official forums, twitter accounts and discord channels. Even if we aren't always responding, we’re reading everything.

Our community have helped built this game alongside us, and essentially us developers are a part of the community itself. We all have the same goal of creating the true ‘back to the roots’ shooter that FPS fans still need to this day.

In the long term future, we have plans for full mapping support within UE4 itself, with workshop support being looked into for community driven content. Along with this, we’re also looking into financially supporting the best map and content creators through community design competitions.”
