an other peril named oil was soon used too leaving only the rich with power .

Roman military stats

T he modern roman army consist of 38 legions each a force of 5200 men armed with short swords and large shields
A legion is divided into 10 cohorts of 500 soldiers and 50 centuries with the cohort having all of the extras.

And also air support is provided by the elite 39th legion
Tactics include the use of altering the line to allow increased endurance.
Tactics differ over terrain.

7.Cavalry
The main cavalry types of the Empire are Heavy shock cavalry and light ranged
horse archers. The heavy shock cav are composed of lacers and sword-armed units,
while the Light horse cavalry is generally equipped with smaller bows specifically
intended for use on horse back. However while mostly archer units they also have
swords so can function as melee cavalry if it is tactically favorable to do so.

8.Pikes
Although dedicated pike regiments are not used by the Neo-Roman Empire soldiers
are trained to use their pilum to fend off enemy cavalry. As a result the Average
Legionary carriers more pilum that their Roman Equivalent.

1.Galleys
Galleys from the backbone of Roman Costal navy units. Although vulnerable to storms,
fragile, carrying little artillery, and requiring a large crew they have some distinct
advantages. For example they can sail agaisnt the wind with their rowers, they are fast
they are manuverable, they can ram, and they can operate in very shallow waters.
This makes them excellant for shallow coastal waters. They are also regularily
dismanted and packed into cargo ships for assembaly at arrival destinations.

2.Mainline Capital Ships
Large sailing ships form the assualt arm of the Empire. They are able to carry large
amounts of artillery, are very strong, have much better seaworthiness, and their tall
sides provide protection against boarders from smaller ships like galleys. However
they are slow , and vulnerable to ramming by galleys when unable to fire full broadsides.
On the other hand if they do manage to get a frail galley into the aiming sights of their
hydraulically operated artillery then the galleys life will be very short indeed.

3.Gunboats
Gunboats are designed to serve on rivers and some sheltered waters. They are driven by
peddle power and posess metal armor. Although not cabable of withstanding shots from
shore artillery batteries, it can generally turn infantry bows and light ballista fire.
Their own armerment consists of broadside and turreted ballistas as well as troops armed
with bows and swords.

4.Aircraft Carriers
At first Aircraft Carriers appear ungainly. Missing a thrid mast can cause that. However Carriers are a vital part of the Neo-Roman Empire's Fleet. Instead of firing artillery barrages they are equipped with launching pads for hangliders and lighter than air craft. Our current Triumph-Class Carrier carries 200 Hangliders and 2 Blimps. the Aircraft are used for Reconissance and Bombing,using Napalm Bombs. Each Hanglider carries 1 Bomb while a Blimp holds 20. However they are unable to survive in Storms, hanglider pilots must be small to cut weight, and The hangliders are known to lose altitude and crash....the pilots then drown and/or Freeze.
