90% of ALL Laptop CPU's are clocked at around 2.5 Ghz. That's half of what a normal desktop CPU has by default.
For instance, an i5 3570k @3.4Ghz (I have mine at 4.4Ghz) which is currently $275 on amazon. OUTPERFORMS the i7 6700HQ @2.6Ghz which cost's $661 on amazon.

And most top of the line gaming laptops cost around the same if not more than a gaming desktop.

Not that a desktop has infinitely more possibilities, but a laptop can be good.
