heck am not surprised if this project is delayed until HL3
If you or anyone else are interested in doing reviews for the site you can send us a sample of your writing (preferably an example of a review you could do) by e-mailing us a copy at editor@0credits.com
& thanks for showing interest! I have no doubt we'll be getting a lot of reviews submitted.
>we should give em out to the community in raffles/steamgifts instead of using them ourselves
I like this idea a lot, & given the chance we'll definitely do some contests/raffles etc etc.
>I dont see how ad money or review copies (or beta keys or whatnot) = sellouts
I don't either, but I can definitely see how some people might see it that way.
If we email a publisher/developer and they're happy to provide a review copy without any strings attached I have no problem with it (They just need to know ahead of time that this doesn't mean we're not going to slam the crap out of their game in the review we do).
Irregardless I definitely want to keep the financials behind the site as transparent as possible (for credibility reasons).
Additional note:
I will be outlining a user agreement for the website soon which will lay down a few ground rules. (Basically, running the website as a non-profit, ad-free, open community licensed under creative commons, as well as guaranteeing that we won't accept any form of compensation for reviews -- whether it be currency, free review copies of games, etc etc.)
The agreement will be open to discussion before it's set in stone of course, and is more to provide confidence in the quality of the reviews we'll be doing.
I'm glad to see there's still interest in this project. I haven't been able to contact Grueru (The guy that was originally behind this as far as I can tell) for about a week now, and since i'm not a group admin I also can't make announcements to ask questions about what people would like to see on the site and as well provide updates on how the site is coming along.
The current website is www.0credits.com , it's pretty unfinished content wise at this point, and to be honest I will probably end up revamping the theme if I don't get a chance to talk to Grueru soon.
The rating system on it right now is completely temporary, I would like to have individual ratings that editors can give a game in addition to their editorial, and then users can vote on how agreeable a review is, as well as pull additional ratings for a reviewed game from metacritic (One idea would be to take the ratings for games while exluding reviews which gave a game a 0 or perfect 10).
I'm not sure how much information i'm allowed to give out but we have hosting and a domain setup.
This is the one site that could sustain itself from the dedicated user base, and you've come so far. Don't give the ♥♥♥♥ up for christ sake. Please to ♥♥♥♥ see this and carry on.
