Just wondering as I have discovered Freedom force vs 3d reich recently and actually didn't notice that there is a first game - this one

As the title suggests, every time I click the restart mission button in softlocks the game to the point where I have to restart my computer. I am physically unable to minimize or alt f4 my way out of it. Can't even access the task manager. This occurs on both the steam version and the GOG version. I cannot in good conscience play this game if I know I'm unable to ever start a mission from the beginning....
