I cant go forward...not enough "brushes"???

I have been stuck here for weeks! I cant finish the Study puzzle because I do not have any brushes....But, can't get any brushes until I finish "quests"? I am so confused and am about ready to stop playing this game. It seems like it always something! UGH...

Can't get into Panic Room 2 (????)

Am very confused - I have both The Panic Room and Panic Room 2: Hide and Seek - but in revisiting both today - every time I click "play" on the sequel - it opens up the first game instead (The Panic Room). Did they discontinue Panic Room 2 - and is that why this is happening???...

I am doing the quest called asian motifs which tell me to go through the hallway in words mode to get a mask. It doesnt say hard to find. I have now gone through the hallway in words mode 4 times now and so far no mask. Whats going on?
