I really wish steam had some sort of midground between recommend and don't, because I have very mixed feelings on this game. Overall I don't think its worth it at full price, but if you enjoy short artsy projects with excellent atmosphere and catch it on sale for cheap then you'll probably find it a good way to spend an evening.

The visuals and music are genuinely beautiful and set the mood excellently, the premise and setting are really intriguing and the main cast of characters all came off as interesting, it really has the vibes of an cult film that can hook you in and leave you thinking on it for ages. However, there is a pretty major change of tone and story into a much less focused direction maybe 2/3rds of the way through the game, which is only a few hours long even if you explore everything. There isn't actually much to explore mechanically, most of the gameplay loop is going to a place, talking to someone or seeing something and repeating, although personally the atmosphere makes it enjoyable so long as you take it more as a fragment of a story to experience than a full game.

The game’s pixel art is truly beautiful. There is a great attention to detail and impressive lighting work, which makes the environments feel very alive and creates some wonderful atmospheres. The world have a strong noir detective vibe.

The story follows an investigation dealing with quite heavy and dark themes, where you play as a private detective. Your choices seem to influence how the story unfolds as you progress, which adds to the immersion.

The gameplay itself is fairly simple and mostly consists of a few stealth sections and light puzzle moments that are generally not very challenging. The real heart of the game lies in its narrative and dialogue, which make up most of the experience. The writing is very solid, with many well-crafted lines. The main characters are well developed and have strong personalities, which further strengthens the credibility of the world.

The soundtrack, with its jazzy tones, is subtle but very pleasant and fits the adventure very well.
