The platforming is definitely the biggest letdown for me personally. Lara’s jumps often feel hit-or-miss, turning what should be straightforward navigation into a risky endeavor. There are so many instances where she should easily grab onto a ledge, yet she just slips right by it for no apparent reason. Then there are moments when she seems to stick to surfaces you weren’t even aiming for. It’s less about a challenge and more about a broken ledge detection system

The controls don’t do the game any favors either. Movements can feel rigid and a very sluggish, which is a nightmare in a game that relies heavily on precise jumping. Instead of mastering the environment, you find yourself battling the mechanics. Dying over and over because the game doesn’t register a grab isn’t a test of skill, rather it’s just bad design.

To make it worse, camera issues can really mess it up for me at least. Tight spaces and sudden shifts in angle can ruin jumps that should be a breeze. When the camera feels like an enemy in a game that’s all about platforming, frustration is bound to set in.

I enjoyed Tomb Raider Legend and I would say similar for the sequel, Tomb Raider Underworld. The age definitely shows with janky physics, camera, and parkour, but if you're able to look past that then its a good game especially for the price. The visuals still hold up pretty well even in 2026. I would recommend Underworld especially if you played and enjoyed Legend, but if you haven't played Legend, beware of janky and frustrating platforming.
