It's a shame this game has a bad reputation because it's incredible, and should be the DEFINITIVE way to rip and tear. Yes the controls were a mess on modern headsets BUT you can fix it/remap it. I played on a Meta Quest 3S and I started with one of the most popular steam user controller binding: Doom VFR: Smooth Turning on Right Joystick. You may need to follow the instructions here to get it to stick, but I'm pretty sure it just worked when I switched: https://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2736094459. I made some major changes yet to this control scheme for myself, namely remapping key functions like weapon switch to a grip button to keep my thumbs on the sticks to keep moving to rip and tear.

Now the real gripe with this game isn't that the control mapping was a mess (because that can be fixed, although those Bethesda idiots should have done that years ago), no the real problem is the one nobody talks about: the controls will randomly just not work. You'll be in a serious freeflow killing spree then all of the sudden, you open the weapon wheel to switch and it just refuses outright. There never seems to be a rhyme or reason, just when it wants to, it will refuse to switch, leaving you stumbling and completely killing your freeflow. Sometimes it will switch to the wrong weapon and not fire at all (DA F.......). The other thing is there is a teleport feature (beyond traditional VR that is incredible, but I won't spoil it) but sometimes it just refused to work and then you get cornered and obliterated. You can be a serious killing machine, but if the controls decide they want you to fail, that's it. There is one more thing that's so dumb, there random busy work interactions with aligning lasers or a code sequence on a computer.

Don't get me wrong, the game is seriously fun, but it has some major bugs. WHO LET IT GET THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE THIS! Besides the teleport feature I mentioned that I love (when it works), this game has a few other incredible tricks, think berserk pack...and Infighting is also back!! WTF wasn't that in DOOM 2016!!!

When the game works, it really, really works. It's more fun than DOOM 2016, feels faster too, which I was not expecting. BUT, when the game decides it doesn't want to work, it really stinks.

This game earns the F in VFR in both regards. It's bad@$$ when you're flowing, but it's also F- material when it stops working...

I still highly recommend trying it, just take the time to set up the controls, and you can surely find it pretty cheap.

They couldn't even be bothered to add smooth turning which would of been a really easy task for them to fix it, apparently you can attempt to add it yourself by opening the console every time you play the game and adding a load of commands... no thanks, I couldn't be bothered, tried playing it standing but got all twisted up in the cable as I'm using a pico neo3 link through display port.

its not calibrated for meta quest 3 but i just gave 4 bucks so i dont as for refund......
