I've been doing some digging trying to find more games like the first Zork, but it seems as though it's almost entirely unique in the way you interact with it, typing in information to be parsed and interpreted. Most interactive fiction games seem to have adopted the basic "Choose Your Own Adventure" strategy, giving the player a number of predetermined actions and selecting one. I have an idea to make my own game like Zork, but I want more examples to draw from, to understand what works and what doesn't,...

I'm old. I remember playing ZORK in my youth. I see the original TEXT adventure is available on Steam for Windows XP & Windows Vista. What does that mean to someone like myself who is running Windows 10 on a fairly new PC?

(zork 1) im trying to do it on paper but i start on the house i go W and then go back E and im not on the house ??? please explain how it works

So, Ive played a small amount of the 1st Zork game as the window for the game (which I cannot change the size of) is very small.... I mean, it's just small. Windows 10. 1920x1080. It will appear to be no bigger then THIS box. About half the horizontal of this message and about the same for vertical. Im actually surprised I could actually read the text at all but I was hoping for a slightly larger window. Anyone have any suggestions on how to change this?...
