i haven't played a ton, but so far it seems like a shallow copy of melvor idle. im sure more content will be added going through early access, but really my problem isn't with the amount of content available. rather, the fact that it is such a direct copy while also missing the nuance.

take combat for example: in melvor you have a variety of weapons and enemies with varying attack speeds. this speed difference matters a lot! in fact it's fundamental to the combat because in many cases being able to attack before or after an enemy can be the difference between living and dying, so you are encouraged to tinker with gear and prayers to achieve that speed delta. here there is one attack bar that both combatants are synced to.

thieving is another example where the nuance is missed: in melvor enemies have a detection stat that is checked against the player's stealth stat. you can increase this stealth stat in a number of ways including, but not limited to, leveling thieving and equipping various pieces of gear. the thing is those same gear slots often have other items that boost the amount of raw resources you gain via stats like resource doubling and gold multiplier, so you have an incentive to min-max against the target you are stealing from, balancing stealth with resource generating stats. here every thieving target has a flat percentage chance to fail and you manipulate that by hitting thieving level thresholds.

also events tied to real world time? are we serious? even runescape 3 is removing these! beacuse they suck! i definitely don't want to feel pressured to log in to an idle game at certain times of the day or week for fear of missing out on some super powerful bonuses.

last, the quests. if i can do a quest that skips me to level 25 of a skill faster than i could level to 25 myself why even have the first 25 levels? i know the answer is "that's how runescape does it" but at least there you get some dialogue, lore and exploration out of it, here it's just a timer you wait to complete then click a button to accept the rewards.

Genuinely a VERY fun game if youre into OSRS or Text based rpgs. The game play is very straight forward but good for those that just want to relax while playing or while youre doing other things. Worth the full $10 and i really hope this game gets the traction it deserves .I only have a few gripes which are personal opinions id change and hopefully devs agree with them and maybe would implement or change them in the future.

- Passive sounds while autoing. The music is lovely but only having the 4 songs on loop got very annoying very quick to me. I think having passive sounds while fighting would give this game an amazing atmosphere. chopping while woodcutting, bubbling from a pot coming to a boil while cooking, maybe even having just sounds of a little town happening all around, hell id take buttons having some sort of click sound.

-The quests giving such large amounts of XP and turn in style. Having my melee level skyrocket after just the first two quests changed my overall playtime expectation. Havent done all of them, but feels like i cheated in a "watch this ad for a super weapon" on a mobile game. The way you turn in quests by waiting so long after accepting just seemed a bit odd to me. I HAVE ONLY PLAYED HARDCORE so i assume its similar in softcore as well but maybe thats why it felt off and i leveled more than i should have.

Really polished for an EA game, and I really enjoy the active events that give you something to do when you're playing other than watch numbers go higher. The devs are incredibly responsive and fix bugs/implement suggestions rapidly. Definitely worth the cost of entry.
