Demo Version 0.1.3 Update

Version 0.1.3 of the South of the March demo has been released!

This one has a bunch of bug fixes, a couple fairly critical, plus some reworking of accessible control instructions. Full details are on the blog[www.smallgraygames.com], but in short:

Separate basic controls and self-voicing controls for ease of readability
Add entry-by-entry scrolling for self-voicing controls
Add control overviews (basic and self-voicing) to system menu
Fix bug with map nodes being mouse clickable outside of the map screen
Fix bug when mixing keyboard and mouse on deselected camp or quest confirms
Fix bug when navigating up or down with mouse selected on equipment upgrades
Fix inn rest crash
Add failsafe in case of menu lockups when spamming keys
Prevent menu from being opened during some interstitial periods (resting, end of battle)
Change control menu styling to match settings

Bug ended the whole thing way too early

I fought the wolves, then when I reached the river bridge I looked at the bridge, looked at the river, then talked to the guards. A guard said one line, something like "you have business at the camp?" and then what seemed to be some other kind of event interrupted, about hearing something coming. I had the option to prepare for combat or avoid it. I chose to avoid, some group of rough-looking thugs passed by, and then things started really breaking. Demo Version 0.1.2 Update

Version 0.1.2 of the South of the March demo has been released!

This one has a bunch of bug fixes based on feedback and internal testing, plus a couple of new features. You can find an overview of the new stuff and more details on the blog[www.smallgraygames.com], but in short:

Patch Notes (v0.1.2)

Add auto-save system to avoid lost progress or difficulty walls
Include player/enemy icons on status info popover
Fix escape key in battle to only open "return to menu" modal when no submenus are open
Fix "Current Location" marker when loading in sub-maps
Fix bug where level up stats reflect player statuses active at battle end
Fix menu stress display to percentage to match battle display
Fix nav click-through bug around character portraits with mouse controls
Fix mouse control issue when clicking empty skill/item slots
Add better self-voicing readout for save and load
Remove some unused assets to reduce project size

Bugs and UI suggestions

Currently at level 3. Every time I level up, it says my block rate increased to 2%, but when I look at the Equipment screen it still shows 1%. Probably a rounding error? Might apply to others as well. Would be nice if hovering the stress marker showed a tooltip explaining the effect. I’ve already forgotten what the penalty applies to. An in-game guide that explains the benefits of each stat would be welcome as well. Strength seems to be the highest valued by far according to the respective item prices,...

Crash after a fight with two bears in Along the Cliff Face
