Update 1.2.0 - Meet Your Operators

The biggest update yet is here, and it changes how every run begins.

Slot Theory has always been about the towers you draft. Now it's also about who's running the board. Update 1.2.0 introduces the Operator system: pick a commander before each run, and reshape your entire strategy around them.

Every Operator brings two things to the table: a passive that bends your whole build (faster towers, deeper chains, bigger blasts, harder control, longer range, more damage, or recaptured overkill), and a signature charged active you fire from the shared meter and now aim yourself, in real time, while the wave keeps running.

🔆 Overcharger resets every tower's cooldown and throws the whole board into a fire-rate frenzy.
🔗 Conductor threads a Chain Nova enemy-to-enemy on a flick.
💥 Detonator plants timed charges that cascade across a zone.
🧊 Warden slams the board into a near-frozen vulnerability window.
🌌 Astra collapses a singularity that drags enemies into a cluster, then implodes it.
🎵 Nyx-7 drops a synthwave overdrive. Tap on the beat for a PERFECT.
⚡Dynamo banks every point of wasted overkill and dumps it as a forked lightning storm: the fuller the bank, the bigger the blast.

Seven Operators in all, each with a hand-animated portrait and a personality to match - from neon androids to a cosmic alien, a synthwave robot, and one very charged-up mascot. Win with one to unlock the next, and chase six new achievements along the way.

UI/UX collision

When you try to whack the surge bar to get that last surge going to avoid losing, it skips the endgame screen. Seeing there’s no other intuitive place to get guidance on how to improve, the player’s raison d’être just yeets off into oblivion. Let’s call that FOMO‑into‑doom. Custom Game overhaul: The Custom Game screen now lets you browse and play any official map (plus Unstable Anomaly) alongside your own created and Steam Workshop maps, organized into collapsible sections. A new Custom Rules panel lets you tweak how a run plays before you start.
New custom game rule - Pick Anything: Every draft offers your entire unlocked card catalog (towers, modifiers, and premium cards) instead of a random handful, so you can build exactly what you want.
New custom game rule - Free Tower Placement: Place your towers anywhere on the open ground, no fixed slots.
Living main menu: The title screen now plays a real game in the background while you decide what to do.

Fixes & polish

Steam achievements now unlock reliably, any you already earned but didn't receive are granted at the end of a run.
Fixed leaderboard scores that could get stuck and fail to upload.
Fixed several enemy interactions (Veil and Reverse Walkers, and splash damage) that could behave incorrectly during busy waves.
Emergency Reserves now correctly restores lives up to your cap and no longer skews your end-of-run stats.
Smoother performance on weaker GPUs during heavy mid-game waves.
Assorted UI polish (clearer difficulty selection, tidier draft cards) and stability fixes.

New tower: Voltspear - a charge-up burst tower that releases a powerful electric-spear shot. Unlocked via the Unstable Anomaly map.
Tower Ban screen - before a skirmish run, ban up to 3 towers from your draft pool (or none) to steer how your run plays out.
Auto-Pick for endless mode - a toggle that drafts for you, now driven by a trained AI that plays a strong deep-build strategy.
Resonance Tiles - procedural maps can now feature buff tiles that boost towers placed on them.
End-of-run recap - a personality summary on the end screen, with build-identity headlines that describe how your run actually played out.

PERFORMANCE

Major late-game performance gains - enemy rendering and combat effects were heavily reworked; busy and late waves run roughly 2x the frame rate they used to.
Adaptive effect detail - when your frame rate dips, combat VFX automatically simplify to keep things smooth, then stay full-detail on capable hardware. Keeps the mid-game fluid on lower-end machines.

FIXES

Screen shake no longer drifts the playfield when multiple shakes overlap.
Restored enemy glow during busy waves - enemies no longer wash out under heavy load.
