im very fond of the developers past work, and FLESHCANCER goes to show how much he has improved to the point of having his own game on steam on early acess with even a publisher

POSITIVES
- the whole style and direction is awesome, its almost like what eternal damnation is for postal but for quake/bdd3. i love finding and playing weird edgy indie games and this is another for that list
- the music is weird and catchy, doesnt get repetitive/annoying which is usually a problem with boomer shooters, but not this one
- the weapons are cool af and very satisfying, specially the lever action shotgun and the hunting rifle
- my favorite enemy is the meat baby that jumps at you
- the maps are all very distinct and complex, loved exploring every bit

NEGATIVES
- there are too little pickups around. as i said, i love exploring, but i never felt very rewarded as most corners are empty and there are many paths that go nowhere. the biggest problem tho is the fact that my ammo depleted very fast, so i spent most of the middle levels scavenging for any ammo available and avoiding combat, which isnt fun
- the super shotgun is TOO LOUD to the point that i refused to use it because i just couldnt bear the earrape lol
- many places are too dark. it works for that time you have to turn the lights on or when youre supposed to be wary of your surroundings, but most of the time it just makes the path ahead hard to see and you end up getting lost or stuck on weird geometry
- there are some bugs/glitches like textures z-fighting, map leaks and the door on the secret level not opening even when you have the key

overall this is a very cool short demo for whats to come and im very excited for the new episodes. having faith in the developer, i recommend buying this right now

Damn, this was FUN. Wasn't 100% sure what to expect going in, but this game has that pure and refined edginess. Level design was engaging, and played on expectations, from CQB in tight houses to blasting demons in a flesh dimension. Genuinely difficult, but never unfair or overstayed its welcome. Level sizes were compact but dense, with every room bringing rewarding and satisfying fights.

The sound track needs mentioning, the whole game is gripped with this dread-filled atmosphere and that's thanks to the soundtrack and artstyle being so cohesive. Level 4 soundtrack in particular

All this for $3? Easiest spend ever, can't wait for more episodes.

Fun but super brutal boomer shooter that I'm really bad at.
