Greetings Ballers!

First and foremost, thank you all so much for playing the demo. We got some really good feedback, and have incorporated as much of it as we could into the game. We will be pushing this late tonight, in anticipation of release TOMORROW! We hope you have as much fun playing this game, as we did making it.

Absolute blast.

Any incremental having "build-making" as main premise and being good at it is going to be 100% recommend from me, even before game gets released. However my first impression was not smooth: 1st launch, it crashed 2nd launch - im met with 2 newton balls with 3rd inbetween them being missing, i think it hasnt loaded something in, i quit game, it hangs XD 3rd launch, i alt-tab, im writing all these notes down, while typing - game crashed again in background XDDD 4th launch, im playing it, f...

Demo Build Update - Subtitles, VFX, and Sticky Notes

Hi All!

Nic is back from holidays and with that we have been churning away another round of updates. We saw some obvious and not so obvious problems and have smashed away to get this to you as soon as we tested it to be ready. We always believe in making the play experience as best as possible. 'Good' simply isn't enough for us so here is what is now available in the Demo:

Additions

Added subtitles when the Dr speaks on the megaphones. We kept seeing the speaker move and sometimes you're just in the zone so having subtitles optional helps pop you back out and tune in to what the Dr has to say.
Added subtitles toggle to options menu
Added VFX for balls spawning from Lott'o'Baller. Nic had a brilliant idea that was so simple we can't believe we missed this from the beginning.
Added trigger word popup when a trigger on the ball is successful. Sometimes it was difficult to recognise when an effect on a ball was a success especially with all the new VFX so this should help quite a fair bit.
Added sticky note to tap so that players know it isn't a 'thing'

Improvements

improved score effect VFX
Improved Chexxit to show context sensitive control glyphs instead of pure text
Improved player movement speed by 20%. Even we were feeling it was too slow!

Fixes

Fixed infinite loop on copying of trigger other effects when the subsequent effect is also a copy effect on the last ball in the pass
Fixed copy chain failing when a ball does not have a VFX component to it.
Fixed megaphone sounds using the wrong sound channel. Intro and exit sounds are now controlled by the announcer sound slider
Fixed ball appearing behind geometry on initial pickup.
Fixed bad labels on machines

Demo Update: Visual Effects Galore!

Hey everyone, Misch here.

Nic is still enjoying his Piña Coladas overseas so I'm here to keep you company with a great and meaningful patch for the demo. Lots of feel improvements and some important fixes based on early play sessions. All these improvements will make it to the full version.

New Stuff

Ball descriptions on CheXit now pop when the effect for that direction is actively being processed. Makes it much easier to follow what is firing and when.
Added a little celebration moment when transitioning to the game over screen. You earned it!
The room now has temperature fluctuations. Keep warm!

Improvements

VFX for Strikers and ball effects have had a massive pass. Copy chain effects will appear at the original ball where the copy chain started.
The copy ball effect now also copies the secondary effect when one is present.

Fixes

Fixed player interaction and camera look continuing to process while the game is paused.
Fixed a ball being able to swap with an empty space in the Cradle, UpgradeABALL, and BallAmpPRO.
Fixed balls clipping through walls and surfaces when held and pushed against them. The ball now rolls along the surface instead.
Fixed sequential copy effects in a chain crashing the game.

No Game Executable?

I tried to play the game's demo for the Steam Next Fest, but the install size was 0 bytes and the install folder is empty after install. Attempting to launch the game gets an "executable not found" error. I am on Linux, so this may just be a Linux issue, but I've not had games that didn't download any data before....

META abuse

Game's main gimmick is rolling balls with various effects and manually synergizing them for bigger profits. The process is fun and evolving at first, but the buildings that were inaccessible in demo version were given too little time of my attention due to me dropping a few balls that gave me... basically end-game setup.

Game can, and most likely WILL end in less than/around 2 hours. Mostly depends on your early luck and how long it'll take to understand/adapt to the mechanics given (which it does clear, except "what utility means" (its when ball's effect copies/triggers next/previous/its other effect (blue/purple color effect)).

You're incentivized into buying more balls to discover more effects: the further you progress - the better chances for rolling a higher rarity ball (determines which effects it can have/how strong they are). Some machines allow you to fuse your ball's effects/rarities together (but you still have to roll a desired effect/rarity) and make your builds perform better and better without relying on constant ball RNG, even though you'll sort of have to, because there's only 2 meta effects that will carry you to the end no matter what other balls will do: Add passes, add power per (full slots/each level X balls) and to make them even stronger, copy next/previous effect. If you get these and combine them properly, the game is essentially over and it can happen sooner than it would've been expected. Progression, while good, ends too early in my opinion, hence probably the <2 hour finish time. From one side its probably good, so any bad build can still perform somewhat-on-par with progression, but on the other i still wanted more and thus im trying to get next number notation.

I left some feedback on the demo so here's some for release:

Leaderboards...
- I thought these are going to be "who pushed the money/cycle the furthest" category, not "least RNG used" (balls spawned)
- Allowing players who grinded the demo for big cash to just buy last few doors, complete the game and get an "unbeatable" spot on the board is an interesting oversight xd
- Dont really see a point of going for leaderboards in a game where your end-result is RNG based throughout
Mouse sensitivity slider starts at "maxed out" as default, i kinda expected it to be in the somewhat-middle, especially since "minimal" option disables it completely XD
Ballputer could use faster transitions
- On top, able to reset upgrades at any time when at end-game. I know its meant to be randomized, effects are not that impactful/just QoL's, but only thing holding the player at the end is "pushing the limits", so give them a hand pls.
Utility description could use better explanation
BallAMP PRO still doesnt state that it only works with max lvl balls
Roomba still unrideable :( ⠀⠀(i wonder how many people it would annoy and how many happy if it WAS rideable xd)

Despite its short timespan, the gameplay loop, """progression""" and the thrive to learn the balls to break the game with, was very satisfying. I'd highly recommend it if you dont mind short but engaging games.

Its a pretty fun game. Personally I think the leader board should have a highest earnings section but i overall enjoyed the game.

Kind of addictive!

I have 13+ hrs already and trying not to add to that. I just wanted to see how high I could get each round past what I needed to. Seems to me adding passes is the best but rarest way. Then I got curious and found the old itch version, you need to put this polished version out in early access and see what people think. I think you need some version that has you move to the next room that is just the same but you can pick up upgrades each time you move to a new room....

The storage under the cradle is difficult to reach, especially as the display panel juts out. maybe the front section of the cradle table shouldn't be recessed?

Fun little mix of Balatro and Berry Bury Berry. Runtime is RNG-dependent, but with my playthrough I feel like it didn't overstay its welcome. Pretty good for a fiver!
