Thank you all for playing and for your feedback on progression speed. This update brings major rebalancing, a brand new endgame system, and a ton of new content for players who have conquered the library.

🔺 NEW — Ascension System

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Once you reach Prestige Level 10, you can now Ascend — a second layer of progression beyond prestige. Ascending resets your prestige back to zero but grants a permanent multiplier that carries through every future run. The higher your Ascension level, the more powerful your library becomes. There is no cap.

🏛️ NEW — Late Game Upgrades

Three powerful new upgrades unlock after ascending:

• Grand Librarian — +50 books/sec

• Interdimensional Archive — +100 books/tap

• Cosmic Library — +200 books/sec and +250 books/tap

🏆 NEW — Achievements

Four new achievements have been added for players pushing into the billions:

• Cosmic Library — 500 million books

• Universal Archive — 1 billion books

• Infinite Mind — 5 billion books

• Eternal Archive — 10 billion books

⚖️ BALANCE — Progression Rebalance

I have made significant changes to how progression scales across the game. Previously players were reaching the final achievement far too quickly. These changes are designed to make each stage of the game feel more rewarding and meaningful:

• Prestige threshold now scales more steeply — each prestige requires significantly more books than before

• Prestige multiplier growth has been reduced to create a longer, more satisfying loop

• Upgrade costs now scale with your prestige level — rebuilding your library takes longer each cycle as intended

• Special Collection multipliers have been rebalanced to work correctly with the rest of the game's systems

• Random events now scale with your progression rather than giving flat rewards

• Offline earnings now correctly account for all active bonuses

💾 IMPORTANT — Existing Saves

Your save file is fully compatible with this update. The game will automatically migrate your existing progress to the new systems when you launch. If you had already prestiged, your multiplier will be recalculated to match the new formula. No progress will be lost.

Idle Library is a simple incremental clicker/idle game in which your primary goal is to grow your library's book collection by cataloging books (actively via clicks or passively via upgrades). There are 9 upgrade options which increase books per tap, books per second, or both. There is also 1 upgrade option to reduce research costs; however, it's unclear what the purpose of research points are & why they're spent (other than for the sake of leveling up that research category). Unlike the 10 "standard" upgrades that can be purchased multiple times per run, there are 5 "special collections" upgrades (which provide global income boosts) that can only be purchased once each per run. There are also events that provide special bonuses for a limited time (i.e., increased global income for a set amount of time). Lastly, there is a prestige system that provides permanent multipliers towards earnings (by soft resetting for prestige), with the cost to prestige increasing upon each reset.

Idle Library also has daily quests, daily rewards (a small amount of books), gems, and boosters — none of which seemed particularly beneficial or useful in the current state of the game (but perhaps might be during long-term play). Much like with research points, it's unclear how gems are earned (whether that be passively over time or by completing certain tasks/milestones). Much of the "how to play" or "what's the purpose" confusion could likely be avoided with some sort of guided tutorial or better UI that explains each feature, its purpose & function.

For some reason, the developer opted to include 5 library theme options; however, only the "classic" theme actually appears to be a library. Themed libraries is a fun concept to implement if the library still looks like a library (and has books). The inconsistencies in the themes' artwork, however, is likely due to the developer using AI-generated art for the backgrounds (which itself is unfortunate, especially considering the only artwork in the game is the backgrounds and the stack of books at the top).

In summary, Idle Library is a clicker/idle game that overpromises and underdelivers. The game includes many features (many of which aren't explained), AI-generated images, no background music, and only a single "page flipping" sound when clicking buttons. Regardless of how well-intentioned, Idle Library falls short of being an enjoyable experience and would need a lot of TLC to be enjoyable long-term.

A pretty basic and relatively short incremental clicker with a library theme. There are daily quests to do that reward you with "gems", which can then be used for various boosts. As of writing this, there is around 3-4 hours of gameplay here, but more may be added in the future.

As these games tend to be sometimes, this one is a little on the tedious side, and the lack of real visuals really don't help much. All in all, not bad, not great.
