Resident Evil but with Dinosaurs. Although... it would be cool if this got a remake with more enemy variety, a few more weapons (or ammo types), and some character interaction.

Dino Crisis originally released on the PS1 on July 1, 1999 in Japan and later on August 31, 1999 in the US, and this game really makes you feel like you are part of a Jurassic Park movie with all the dinosaurs trying to maul you to pieces. Dino Crisis is a survival horror game where you will try to survive and accomplish the mission on an island, and leave out alive, with the obstruction of dinosaurs and puzzles. This is an improved version of the game on Steam and has improved visuals and controls where it almost feels like a remaster.

💾Graphics - The graphics are more up to date and has rendering up to 4k. However, this is an old game, so there will be some clipping with the characters, but it’s not a big deal. Also, the cutscenes look not too clear, but again, this is an old game, so it’s understandable.

🎮Gameplay - The gameplay is pretty decent. I was not used to the moving controls of the game, but it got easier as I proceeded with the story. There are very few variations of dinosaurs to encounter, and there are so many puzzles to get through if you want to beat the game. I would make sure to read those left out journals and memos so you as it can help you with clues to get you through. The UI is very simple and has a mixing option where you can mix your items for even better items, and you will have to play with it to see what is the most beneficial for your survival. In terms of the difficulty, I did start on normal, but I ran out of ammo and the enemies were just a bit tough to beat. So, I completed this game on easy, where I got to enjoy the story and solve puzzles with ease.

📜Story - You play as Regina and you are set out with a team on a mission to secure and escort Dr. Kirk out of the island. You’ll come to find out there is a bigger issue that you will encounter, and you will need to survive if you want to leave the island with your team.

🕛Playtime - I’ve beaten this game in about 5 hours, and some people can beat this in 3-6 hours. I had to scramble to figure out the puzzles which took me a bit. I suggest if you are stuck, look at some guides if you want to beat the game quicker. Lastly, there are no achievements in this game, so once you beat the game, that’s it.

🎧Sound - The sound is very simple and the soundtrack really takes you back to the retro days of the PS1. I think it’s pretty decent for an old game. It gives me some PS1 Resident Evil vibes.

❗Bugs❗- I do have a couple bugs I’ve encountered in my playthrough, but it shouldn’t be too affecting as you can just restart the game and it will be all new again.

🔅Performance - The performance is pretty solid and I’ve had no stutters and any unexpected performance issues, and I would say this game ran pretty smoothly for me.

🔗Conclusion - Dino Crisis is a very decent game in my opinion. I would say this game has a very low replay value, and I am just gonna move on to the sequel, Dino Crisis 2. I was disappointed this game had no Steam Overlay, so you will need to install a mod (Mulderland’s Dino Crisis *Enhancement Pack*). I will provide a link below. I will recommend this game because it makes me kinda feel like I am part of a Jurassic Park movie, so I personally enjoyed that, and I hope you will too.
