I'm unable to get past the reeling in a fish tutorial, the arrows I'm supposed to catch don't appear and I can't leave the screen :(

It may be due to the fact that I'm on an ultrawide, but parts of the game are entirely off my screen to the top/bottom - and with no resolution settings I can't fix it it seems. Basically any UI to the bottom of the screen I can't see And when introduced to the characters of the game, their heads are entirely off the screen....

I think somehow I broke the game? Some store guy appears floating above the boat when progressing to day 2 which will not let me fish or cook. I made sure to fail the expedition to make him leave, but when I start a new one, there he is. I imagine I'll need to start a new save...
